Water and Weight Loss Cannot Exist Apart from Each Other!

If you're exercising, and not pouring water down your throat almost constantly, you're killing yourself, literally. Many times I hear people say they don't drink it because they just don't like it. I can't criticize them, as I felt that way until I learned how much harm I was doing myself. Very few of us drink enough plain old H2O, and dehydration is rampant today.

We all know that our bodies, like the earth, are made up mostly of this liquid. And much like our planet, our bodies are constantly burning, processing, consuming, filtering and expelling it. What happens when it doesn't rain? The earth dries out, cracks, and life begins to fade. Our bodies work the same way. If we don't have a fresh supply coming in constantly, we force our systems to re-use the dirty liquid already circulating. Without fresh input, the body and its circulatory system begin to feed on themselves.

How does this affect your weight? Glad you asked! Besides all of the general health issues relating to diabetes, immune system problems, and even asthma and cancer, water is essential to fat loss. It is the thing that flushes the fat cells out of your system as you exercise and diet. It is absolutely necessary to keep your body flushed out and healthy. By the way, ladies, H2O is what helps you lose inches more quickly when you're dieting and exercising! How is that for motivation?

How much should you drink? An active body uses around 4 quarts per day, and we generally get 2 quarts from the food we eat, especially if we are eating fresh fruits and vegetables. If you are, then drinking a couple quarts per day should put you in good shape. Now, just to be sure you understand- we're talking about plain old H2O, not soda, not even diet soda, not juice, not coffee or tea, unless it's decaffeinated, definitely not energy drinks as they have too much sugar and caffeine, and certainly not alcohol, as it fights weight loss in so many different ways.

So, carry a bottle with you while you're walking, working out, and just going about your daily business. It is the magic elixer for healthy living, and is a must have for effective weight loss.

In light of recent articles, news reports (including one from a national television network saying that we really don't need to drink water!), and other disinformation sources, I thought I ought to add a comment for those of you that are unsure about the necessity of drinking more H2O.

Don't listen to all this bogus information! It's all brought about by soft drink, vitamin water-which is mostly sugar and very bad for weight loss!, and other beverage manufacturers to get you to buy their products instead. We all need to drink more water. For thousands of years, at least, that's all humans had to drink. There is no way we are drinking enough of it today, with all of those other options screaming for our attention. If you're trying to lose weight, water is an absolute necessity to help flush the waste out of your body.

There is a case to be made for being certain that yours is safe, whether by using a reverse osmosis or other purifier, or just checking with local authorities to be sure, but, having done that, please, please, make sure you're drinking several glasses per day. I've read study after study by doctors concerned about our national health who say that dehydration is one of the main causes of serious illnes in this country. That would make hydration one of the easiest cures around! Do your body and your health a major favor, and just drink more H2O!
